This painting was rendered from a trip out to the Big Lake (Michigan) this past October. These beach grasses were seen out at Kirk County Park near Grand Haven during a day trip from my home to Ludington with my friend Valentin who was visiting from Bulgaria. We stopped at around 4 or 5 beach locations along the drive and I was intrigued by how the further north we drove the dunes seemed to become much larger. I wish we would have had time to drive all the way up to Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. Ah...next summer....I will head up there and paint the big ones! But for now....captured the wind driving in off the water blowing the grass and sand at lower elevations!
