Painted during a week long snow storm while staying up in Northern Michigan with our daughter and her family. There was a two hour break in the storm and the sun came out. I hopped into the car and took a quick drive along White Road, the location for many of my paintings. I love this country road which meanders along the Sturgeon River. This old Oak Tree has been the subject in a few of my paintings but this has to be my favorite. I was so filled with joy at actually being outside for the first time in three days. Typically I do not paint top lit scenes but I was so happy for the moment...I recorded it as it was..brilliant and sunlit from right on top of the tree!
